5. The Structural Succulent Bowl
Succulents are the perfect choice for a modern, low-maintenance patio. Their incredible range of geometric shapes, colors, and textures makes them perfect for wide, low-profile bowl planters. This look is clean, modern, and looks just as good in the winter as it does in the summer. It’s an easy way to add a “designer” touch to your patio with very little ongoing care.
How to Make
Select a wide, shallow bowl planter. Use a specialized cactus/succulent potting mix for excellent drainage. Arrange a variety of succulents, placing the larger, more structural ones in the center and the smaller, trailing ones toward the edges. Once planted, cover the surface with a thin layer of decorative gravel or polished stones to prevent the leaves from touching the soil and to give it a polished, professional finish.
Things Needed
- Wide, shallow bowl planter
- Succulent-specific potting mix
- Assorted succulents (Agave, Echeveria)
