6. Pallet Wood Weekly Planner Board

6

If you only need a week at a time, a wooden weekly board keeps things focused. There’s no room for the entire month to overwhelm you — just seven columns and whatever matters this week.

Materials: Pallet boards or cedar fence pickets, sandpaper in two grits, wood stain or chalk paint, small metal clips or clothespins, saw, drill, and screws. Optional: stencils for day labels.

How to make it: Break down the pallet and pull every nail — this is the part that takes the longest. Sand the boards smooth, going with the grain. Cut seven equal lengths and one longer backing board. Paint or stain, let dry, then attach the day boards to the backing with a small gap between them so clips slide on easily. Add a sawtooth hanger to the back.

Time and difficulty: A full afternoon. Moderate, mostly because of the sanding.

Safety note: Look for pallets stamped “HT” (heat treated), which means they weren’t chemically treated. Avoid any pallet with visible staining or an unmarked origin.

Customization: Add a small chalkboard section at the bottom for the weekly menu, or paint one board a contrasting color for a “this week’s priority” slot.
