How to make it: Steel sheets from a hardware store often have sharp edges, so frame them or cover the perimeter with trim. If you want a colored board, wipe the steel with vinegar first, then apply two light coats of spray paint and let it cure for 24 hours. Mark your grid with permanent marker once the paint is dry, then mount the panel into studs or with toggle anchors.
