8. Pegboard Habit and Goal Tracker

8

Not every wall calendar tracks appointments. Some track the things you’re trying to build — water intake, workouts, reading, savings goals — and a pegboard handles that beautifully.

Materials: A pegboard panel, 1×2 furring strips for a mounting frame, pegboard hooks and small bins, colored dot stickers or a roll of small round labels, and paint if you want a colored board.

How to make it: Paint the pegboard and let it dry. Build a simple frame from furring strips to hold the panel about an inch off the wall, which gives the pegs room to seat properly. Mount the frame into studs. Arrange pegs into a grid, then add a small bin for stickers or a pen cup holder.

Time and difficulty: Ninety minutes. Moderate — measuring the frame accurately is the key step.

How to use it: Assign each row to a habit and each peg to a day, then add a dot sticker every time you complete it. Watching a line of dots grow is genuinely motivating.

💡 Pro Tip: Keep the habit list to four or five rows. A board with fifteen habits becomes a wall of guilt within two weeks.
